Movin' right along...

Thought 15: Well, I suppose it's been a little too long since I last posted, so here's what's up: I got a dog!! He's a border-collie/ Labrador mix, and sweet, gentle, everything one could hope for in a dog. He's a little time consuming, but certainly well worth it; makes home a little more home, if you know what I mean.

Thought 16: In other news, Kenpo is still going pretty well- I hope to test for the Brown belt this spring. I've become something of a math nut recently too. I'd like to pursue a degree in electrical engineering, so I've been brushing up on calculus, and the kind of thinking involved in that has a tendency to permeate my other modes of thought. Curious. I've gotten it into my head to attempt a definition of the area of a circle without using pi (perhaps defining pi in a new way). As the normal method of calculating such values is fairly easy and well established, this new way would be mostly useless- a fun exercise though. I also intend to construct a distortion pedal for Tori, our lead guitarist; a practical math and electronics application I feel confident in achieveing success with, and not nearly so complicated as artificial brain parts. And yes, I found my keys.

Thought 17: Okay. To the music. This morning was spent listening to Edgar Meyer's recording of Bach's solo cello suites. GORGEOUS. I've had this CD for some time now, but I can always go back to it and find something I hadn't heard before. Please discover it immediately! We're also in the process of creating some new music for Oceanover, so that's always pretty exciting. With any luck, our beloved fans will have a chance to experience some of it at our next show (March 31, Station 4, downtown St. Paul). Last, Caralyn got one of System of a Down's latest for me, Mesmerize, and, though it isn't quite so sweet as Toxicity, it still kicks. That group just has such a cool style- infectious vocals; great drumming; interesting, melodic bass and guitar parts- it's inspiring.
